I dig my toes into the sand...

Aaah, yes folks, my toes dabbled in the sand of the beach along the James River for the first time of the season today.  It was absolutely delightful.  My usual spot along the river has become overcrowded these days.  I can't even park over there anymore!  So I made my way a bit further down the parkway, to a different pull off, one I had started going to the end of last summer, and now I declare that it is my new "usual spot".  It's much quieter, with less people around.  A few giggles from small children here and there, but other than that, nothing but the rush of the wind and waves.

In this peaceful scene, I was able to read, journal, think, take it all in, and even nap a bit...all while catching some rays to remedy this awful ghostly skin.  I didn't really have any life-changing revelations, but I sure had an awesome day.  I hope the next time I have one of these, I have someone to share it with.

The mental soundtrack in my head today has been this:

I dig my toes into the sand
The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds
Strewn across a blue blanket
I lean against the wind
Pretend that I am weightless
And in this moment I am happy...happy

I wish you were here

I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here

I lay my head onto the sand

The sky resembles a back lit canopy
With holes punched in it
I'm counting UFOs
I signal them with my lighter
And in this moment I am happy...happy

I wish you were here

I wish you were here
I wish you were here
Wish you were here

The world's a roller coaster

And I am not strapped in
Maybe I should hold with care
But my hands are busy in the air saying:

I wish you were here

I wish you were

I wish you were here

I wish you were here
I wish you were here
Wish you were here
